Can you feel it? Spring is in the air!!! March is going to be a great month.

This year's executive has so much planned. Of course this coming thursday is the chapter meeting. Sharla will be presenting her speech that she will presenting at Area C in April. The Effective speaking course as well as the annual Scavenger hunt is on the 20th. This is our spring new members night, so bring your friends or collegues. March 25th is the Darren Jacklin event at the Prestige Inn.

Training Update

Hello everyone,

March is really busy and I hope you have these dates marked down: March 11: no training, Sharla will present her speech and special training will happen on March 25 March 20: Effective Speaking Training: From approx. 9am to 3:30pm, Free for our members. Lunch and materials provided. Sign Up!! March 25: Social Enterprise Seminar with Corporate Trainer Darren Jacklin. YOU MUST RSVP FOR YOUR SPOT, it is FREE for JCI Vernon members. This is open to your friends and coworkers, so please forward the attached flyer to anyone you feel would benefit from this course. Guests will be charged $20 and Darren will donate this back to our JCI Vernon Scholarship Fund - how can you lose?

Membership Report

New Members: I'd like to welcome new members Marc Gobeil and his wife Shera-Lynn, as well as Bjorn Trapp. Please take a moment to touch base with these new members and share any pearls of JCI wisdom you may have.

The Mentorship program lines up a seasoned JCI member with new members and is crucial in ensuring new members get off to a great start. Are you interested in spearheading this valuable program? Give me a call and we can review the details.

The Membership Directory Chair would be responsible for coordinating changes to our membership directory. If we do not have a Chair person step forward before March 15th, 2010, we will not be proceeding with updating the directory...the time to act is now!

The Monday Update has a subscription 140 JCI and non-JCI contacts- this is a great platform to showcase a Vernon JCI member’s business. Interested? Service in Style - JCI Hospital Gala: May 29, 2010 - Best Western Vernon Lodge

Currently we are looking for all members who would like to join the committee as members or for volunteers on the weekend of the event. This event will be used by the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation to replace the Hospital Gala and for JCI to replace the Paddle against Cancer. This is a very important event for both groups and hopefully will become a title event for our chapter.

Suggested committee positions are: Sponsorship - we have two people already, but would be nice to have three. This includes major sponsorship, as well as, the live and silent auction

Casino - tables and supplies Hotel/Food - meal choices and any special requests for the hotel

JCI Vernon Scavenger Hunt

When: Saturday, March 20th, 2010

Where: Gumtree Catering, #42 100 Kal Lake Road Vernon, BC

How much: $5 This fun event is an excellent way to bring out some friends and show them what JCI comraderie is all about!

I have 18 people that signed up for the early registration. Wow!!! This regionals is going to be amazing. May 14-16 in Kelowna.

I am hoping we can all put in a deposit by March 15th. If we buy these registrations, we need to pay for them. There is a no-return policy on the registrations. The fee is $100 if we buy them by March 20th. After that date each member would be on their own and the fee goes up to $145.

I have on my list right now: Terry-Ann, Laura, Troy, Jayme, Kalynda, Jackie, Sharla, Erin, Wilf, Kyla, Jillian, Tehara, Kate, Rick, Nikki, Barb, Kim H, and myself.

I felt after talking to a couple of members that a $50 deposit by the 15th March would show confirmed interest. Also if you put down a deposit and decide you can not attend, each member will have to either pay the remainder to the chapter or find someone to go in their place.
