JCI Vernon or Junior Chamber of Commerce is a group of young individuals who participate in projects around the world. We are affiliated with JCI Canada and Junior Chamber International. Worldwide, JCI has over 200,000 members. Locally, JCI Vernon is a group of 19-40 year olds who help one another achieve greater goals for themselves and the local community.
What we do
JCI Vernon is an organization whose members create positive change. We create this positive change by pursuing the opportunities available to use through membership. We develop as individual leaders and as team members, and positively impact the world around us.
Members plan and carry out projects and programs focusing on four key areas:
- Business Development
- Community Development
- International Development
- Individual Development
Community Involvement
In Vernon, JCI members are active with community projects such as The Paddle Against Cancer and Funtastic. With the business sector we are active with the Chamber of Commerce, The Good Citizen of the Year and with professional training seminars. Specifically, we help run projects for our community.
Training
Monthly, we hold meetings with training on various businesses, personal and often times fun topics. Twice a year, professional training is offered to our members, at next to zero cost, at a regional and national level.
Social
At least once a month we hold a social event for our members and guests. This can be anything from rock climbing, to curling, to golf or hiking.
Why?
To provide opportunities for young individuals. The experience of running a high profile event is key to many of our member's personal development. The business contacts from running events is second to none. Plus, at the end of the day, we help build a stronger community for our friends, family and colleagues.
